SNS Nails: What are they and what are the benefits?

How can powder possibly make a perfectly shiny and smooth manicure? If you don’t believe it, you need to see SNS dipping powder with your own eyes.

Dip powder manicures are catching on nowadays. They are more durable than gels without inflicting the damage that acrylics do. Wearers of dip powder manicures say that the finish is lighter and more flexible than gels are, but they are very durable. Seriously, these nails can last up to 4 weeks. That’s good because they aren’t designed for refills.

So how does it work? A nail tech prepares your nail surface and applies a base coat. Then they dip your finger into gel powder. After applying a sealer and top coat, you’re done. You don’t need to dry them with UV light and the gel powders themselves aren’t hazardous. In fact, the ingredients include vitamins and calcium to strengthen your own natural nails.
SNS Nails has a 2-day course to train nail techs and estheticians on their process. One of these manicures takes about as long as doing gels, but the powder itself doesn’t have a strong odor or the toxic chemicals of acrylics. In 15 minutes, you can have a Gelous Color manicure. In 25 minutes, you can leave with a Pink & White French manicure. The nails are ready to use as soon as the tech finishes their job.

Free of toxic ingredients

One of the best features of the SNS nails dipping powders is that they don’t have toluene, formaldehyde, or DBP (Dibutyl phthalate), a plasticizer that may disrupt the endocrine system. Instead, the dip powders have benzoyl peroxide, titanium dixoxide, and acrylic ester polymer to make them durable. The powders and the finishing ingredient, the Nourisher oil, add calcium and Vitamins A, E, D3, and B5 to your skin and nails.

Products sized for personal and professional use

If you visit a SNS nails salon and decide you want to try doing your own nails at home, you can purchase the dip powders in smaller sizes like 1, 2, and 4 ounces. If you’re a professional, you can invest in a 16-ounce container of powder. The liquid base coats and sealers come in half-ounce and 2 ounce bottles.

You can buy individual colors or collections of colors that contain multiple shades and types at a discount. For example, take a look at the Holiday or Pink & White Collections to see what we mean.

When it’s time for a new manicure

We mentioned that SNS nails aren’t designed for refills. When it’s time for a new manicure, simply sand the shine off the top and soak the nails in acetone for 10 minutes. Wipe them off with a paper towel, then prepare the nail surface.

SNS dip powder manicures are a less costly way of enjoying beautiful nails. They last longer than other types of polish and acrylics. Plus, they don’t damage nails, don’t require UV light or fans to cure and dry, and aren’t packed with toxins, so they don’t cause health problems for the wearer or as much damage to the environment.
